Our Company

Our mission at DRONAMICS is to democratize air freight and enable same day shipping for everyone, everywhere. To achieve this, we are developing a new type of cargo airplane, one that is small, remotely-piloted and extremely fuel efficient. It can transport up to 350 kg over 2,500 km for a cost that's 50% lower than other airplanes. It flies autonomously, can be monitored and managed remotely via satellite, and can land and take off anywhere with at least 400m of landstrip This is the kind of technology that can transform whole economies.

At first, it didn't sound possible, but we keep proving it is, which is why we've called it “The Black Swan”. It can land on short and unpaved runways, enabling on-demand point-to-point flights and speedy same-day delivery even to the most remote locations that would otherwise take days to reach over ground or sea.

We are starting with domestic air networks in Europe and Australia with fleets of the Black Swan, taking advantage of the multitude of small airfields that are often unused, training local personnel as drone and logistics operators, and partnering with local industry to provide a valuable lifeline of getting goods in and out of small, remote, mountainous and/or island communities within hours at a cost that is often below even that of road transportation.

We believe that rapid and reliable shipping has enormous socio-economic benefits , and our goal is to enable same-day deliveries for every single person on the planet at a cost that they can afford. 

The Role
To support the scale up of our business, we are looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance and accounting of our Bulgarian subsidiary and operations. You will report directly to the Head of Financial Reporting and Control based in the UK. The key purpose of this position is to provide day to day support to the business while ensuring robust financial processes and controls are maintained. You will need to be hands on, be able to work independently and be willing to take on a variety of tasks and challenges. We are looking for an ‘do-what-it-takes’ attitude which means that you’d be willing to do exciting complex work or basic and tedious work depending on what is required to meet deadlines and achieve the required results.   • Day to day finance activities of the Bulgarian subsidiary

  •  Ensure all supplier invoices are captured, correctly classified, approved, and paid on time.

  • Ensure all supporting documentation is received and recorded as required by the NRA.

  • Support employees with business travel, per diems and reimbursements

  •  Liaise with the local outsourced accountants to ensure VAT returns are submitted on time and all transactions are captured.

  •  Review daily transaction processing (Purchase Ledger, Expenses, Cash & Bank, Payroll, etc.)

  • Line Manager responsibilities for a direct report

  • Partnering with supply chain and production to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.

  • Continually review costs and identify any potential cost savings for the business, with reasoning and risks of any potential changes

  • Continually reviewing processes to identify potential improvements.

  • Ensuring that the finance function has documented processes and procedures.

  • Provide guidance and training to employees to ensure the T&E and P2P policies are followed.

  • Working closely with the Head of Financial Reporting and Head of FP&A on routine and ad hoc financial activities

  • Supporting the Head of Financial Reporting during the month end process

  • Preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments, depreciation, and general journals.

  • Perform month-end sub-ledger close process for AP, AR, Treasury and Payroll ensuring that all associated Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled on a timely basis.

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process as required.

  • Liaising with third party software providers and the IT department to ensure systems are maintained and developed as required 

  • Familiarise and become fluent in the finance systems used by the business (Netsuite, Payhawk etc.)

  • Ensure transactional finance operations (Procure to Pay, Design to Build) are operating efficiently and effectively.

  • Fixed asset tracking, recording, and recognition, including disposal transactions.

  • Assist with Cashflow forecasting and daily cash management.

  • Preparation for and participation in audits ensuring completion of any audits that are required, including Tax and Statutory reporting.

Job requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Fluency in English – written and spoken.

  • 4+ years of experience in Finance Roles – preferably in an in-house environment.

  • Experience in accounting and finance practices in Bulgaria.

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics, or related field is a must.

  • Chartered Accountant certification is preferred. (ACCA / CIMA / CPA etc.)

  • Professional experience with accounting platforms and ERP systems.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles / GAAP (IFRS).

  • Knowledge of Excel, and strong analytical skills / problem solving abilities.

  • Self-awareness and the ability to self-develop.

  • Demonstrates good judgement and integrity, including when working to tight deadlines.
